Chris Simms signs for Broncos

QB Chris Simms has signed for the Denver Broncos, but don't worry the Broncos have no intention's of starting him over Jay Cutler. Simms will be insurance in case Cutler every gets injured.

Simms has signed a two year deal with the Broncos, the numbers are unknown at this time. He has not yet signed the contract, but he will do soon.

Simms has not seen much action since he played 11 games in 2005 for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Since then he has played in 4 games, but only started in 3. Cutlers back up from last season Patrick Ramsey has not yet signed for a team in the FA.

After all the talk about Quarterbacks in Denver, who would have thought that they would have signed a back-up, i suppose this could be McDaniels way of saying to Cutler your are starter here's your back-up.

Jay Cutler will meet with Josh McDaniels sometime next week, hopefully to start building bridges in there relationship. McDaniels also meet with Brandon Marshal Yesterday and you can be sure there was words said about the incident in Atlanta.

Lewis back in Baltimore

Ray Lewis has finally made his decision and will re-join the Baltimore Ravens, from the beginning there was no question on were Ray Lewis was going until, DeMarcus Ware came out and said that Lewis did not want to go back to the Ravens.

For a few days after this statement was made, it looked like Lewis was not going to return to Baltimore. But then Ray Lewis came out and cleared up the subject by confirming that he didn't say he would not return to the Ravens and would still go back if he was asked.

The deal has yet to be signed on the dotted line, but they have agreed on a deal. The contract is reported to be along the lines of three-years, worth $20 million to $25 million. The deal should be finalized in the next few days.

With C Jason Brown signing with the Rams, Baltimore were in need of someone to fill the roll. So they went out and signed veteran C Matt Birkon on Wednesday, who has spent his entire career in Minnesota.

Other news, TE L.J. Smith will visit the Falcons, the Falcons need a TE to replace Alge Crumpler, who was let go last season.

Broncos Sign 2 RB and DE

The Denver Broncos have signed another RB from the free agency LaMont Jordan and also manage to complete the signing of RB J.J Arrington.

Arrington had a deal with the Broncos but it fell thought due to some snags in the contract. But they have now agreed on a deal. Jordan will get a two-year contract worth $2.5 million and Arrington will get a four-year deal and $10 million contract.

DE Kenny Peterson re-signs for the Broncos on a four year deal. Peterson played in every game last season, getting 24 tackles and 3.5 sacks.

Denver also has a three-year, $4.5 million offer sheet signed with restricted free agent David Anderson from the Houston Texans. Houston have until Friday to match the Broncos' offer or work out a trade. If the Broncos Sign Anderson they will have spent around the same amount of money on 11 players, as the Redskins did on Albert Haynesworth.

Other News, DE Demetric Evans is in negotiations with the 49ers and Redskins. QB Kurt Warner has agreed to go back to the Arizona desert for a two-year deal worth $23 million, including $19 million guaranteed. Saints re-sign WR Henderson. Ray Lewis is expected to sign for Ravens in the next 24 hours. Giants sign Safety C.C. Brown. Bengals sign WR Laveranues Coles to try and replace T.J. Houshmanzadeh.

Broncos shopping for a backup

Now the Denver Broncos have publicly said that Jay Cutler is there QB, the next step is to find someone to back him up. They could well end up with the best back up in Denver since Jay Cutler was Backing up Jake Plummer.

The Broncos are looking to sign QB Chris Simms, he is scheduled to visit Denver on Wednesday. Broncos last back up was Patrick Ramsey, who was with the Broncos for two seasons and played in 3 games, threw for 281 yards, 1 Touchdown and 1 INT.

Andre Goodman has said that Denver Broncos would not let him go to Cleveland, which is were he was meant to visit after the Broncos. Josh McDaniels seems to know how to make his players that he signs feel welcome. Goodman said that he did not want to leave Denver because with his meeting with McDaniels, he made him feel that the team wanted him not needed.

Jay Cutler is staying in Denver for the up coming season after Josh McDaniels came out and said that Cutler is our QB. But it didn't make the situation easier that it took 4 days for him to come out and tell the world that Cutler is our QB. Broncos could still lose there starting WR for most if not all of the 2009 season.
